3 mm thin HDTV with 1,000,000:1 contrast
Sony OLED extreme thin HDTV
A contrast ratio of 1,000,000:1 is pretty extreme. But that's not the only amazing thing about the Sony OLED television. It's only 3 mm thin. Sony uses a brand new technology it developed called Organic LED. The technology was presented back in January but will hit retail this December in Japan. According to Engadet it has something to do with competition between Sony and Samsung because Samsung publicly doubted if Sony would be able to produce the new technology before the end of the year. Sony starts selling an 11 inch model but we should expect to see this technology more often in the future.
