old phone
This fragment from a science show in The Netherlands called World of Miracles (1985), shows how people used to text back then. It's great to see how people where struggling with clumsy inventions that were of no use at all, but were actually pioneers in technology we now use every day. Don't forget it's only 22 years ago. Maybe in 2029 we'll see video clips of silly people experimenting with big bulky music players with primitive touchscreens called (...)  read more
Foldable bluetooth keyword
Smartphones get smarter and almost every modern phone has access to the internet. This means a cell phone is no longer just for making phone calls, but for browsing the web, writing e-mails or updating your blog too. The software does allow you to watch YouTube videos and also upload your own (...)  read more

The first pictures of the O2 Cocoon look like it's just another designer's toy and will never see the real world. But this phone is actually already in use in the UK and it has some pretty nice specs too. The Cocoon has 2 GB internal memory and can be expanded with a MicroSD card. It has a 2 mega pixel camera with auto focus, flash and zoom, an FM radio receiver, a Windows Media Player (...)  read more
Nokia 7710
The Nokia 7710 is an under appreciated legend. In the two years that I owned this smartphone I only met two people who also had this phone and about three that knew of its existence.  The Nokia 7710 launched in 2004 and was way ahead of its time and in fact still has some better specs than its modern day competitors. I especially noticed this while watching Steve Job's presentation of the iPhone. By many already considered to be the ultimate smartphone and I must say it looks like a great (...)  read more
