Apple just announced a complete new iPod line-up with the new iPod nano and brand new iPod touch as most interesting devices. The tiny iPod shuffle gets some new colors and the iPod we used to call the video iPod is now the iPod classic. There aren't many changes in these two devices. The Shuffle only has 5 new colors but will still have 1 GB of storage and will still sell at $79,-. The iPod classic has a new user interface (the same as the new iPod nano) and will come in 80 GB and 160 GB for $249,- and $349,-.
The real cool news comes from the iPod nano and iPod touch. The iPod nano has an impressive 2 inch screen with a resolution of 320 x 240 pixels which means it has 204 pixels per inch. That is the highest pixel density Apple has ever produced on any screen. Including computer screens. The new user interface supports Cover Flow to navigate through music albums and the the 2 inch screen (that is 65% brighter than previous models) works well with video. It comes in a 4 GB and 8 GB model that will sell for $149,- and $199,-.
The iPod touch is a brand new device that is basically the iPhone without phone support. It has the same screensize and user interface as the iPhone only it's thinner. Because of WiFi connectivity this new iPod is a totally new portable device that does much more than a classic Mp3 player. You can browse the web, watch YouTube videos and because of the WiFi iTunes store you don't even have to connect your iPod to a computer anymore to expand your music and video collection. It comes in a 8 GB and a 16 GB model selling at $299,- and $399,-. The video below shows a complete demonstration of the new device.
